Nightmare caused by "Theresa's Country Feed and Pet" and "Pawz and Clawz Pet Rescue"
Shame on "Theresa's Country Feed and Pet" in Simi Valley, CA on Erringer and "Pawz and Clawz Pet Rescue" that operates inside under the direction of Penny. They allowed my family to adopt a cute 8 week old puppy with a life threatening virus, Parvo, that after only 11 days had to be put to sleep. We relied on their verbal assurances that the puppy did not have the virus when in fact it did. The puppy starting showing signs, now we more clearly understand, of being sick with the virus within 4 days of bringing her home. It was later brought to a wonderful pet hospital down the street for care. The odds given at that time were 90% success rate but in day three the suffering started to show real signs and I had to put her to sleep. This nighmare has scared my two children, this being their first dog or pet, and has left them heartbroken still to this day.
The facts are clear that the dog had the virus when it was adopted - this was confirmed by the pet hospital. The Parvo virus has between an 8 to 12 day incubation period before symptoms start to appear and the dog started displaying symptoms early the 4 th day after arriving home. When I called the store they said it was not their problem but that I had to speak to the adoption agency representative, her name is Penny. When I finally got hold of her on the phone she kept explaining that this has never happend before and that none of the other dogs were sick. I told her that was fine but the fact was that my dog was infected when I bought/adopted her and now she was no longer living. Penny also kept telling me that the doctor at the kennel tested the dog the day before and the test was negative. I told her I was not questioning any of that because I could not prove it wrong or right- my issue was that the dog had Parvo (and thus if I were her I would question that fact that the dog was tested as she claimed) when we bought/adopted her and we relied on her obviously false representation when we bought/adopted her.
Bottem line was Penny refused to refund the adoption fee paid, the cost of any of the pet supplies they sold us that they said we needed nor any of the medical bills, approximately $3,000, trying to save her life.
Shame on "Theresa's Country Feed and Pet" and "Pawz and Clawz Pet Rescue" for not stepping up and taking financial responsibility for their misrepresentation, for fighting me on this issue and most importantly for not doing the right and ethical thing.
BUYER BEWARE and I discourage anyone doing business with them. Let ths posting me a warning.
